My name is Robert Fox. I was born in Galt Cambridge 68 years ago in the Galt hospital, which was located on the corner of Borden St. and St. Andrew's St. where St. Andrew's Terrace nursing home is located today. I spent my early years on McNaughton St. near Lincoln Avenue Public School. My father was a carpenter and when I was 9, he built a house on Christopher Dr. and then a year later, on Wayne Ave. near Pinebush Rd. and Franklin. We spent a year living in Preston on Vine St. when I was 10 until my dad finished the house at Pinebush and Franklin. Since there was no 401 highway at that time, I guess you could say that I also lived in Hespeler. I went to the G.C.I. for my high school years, and had friends in Galt, Preston, and Hespeler. I married Sue Doud, 6 months out of grade 13. She was my neighbour and also lived on the Pinebush Rd. We have lived our entire life here in Cambridge and love this place very much. We both became elementary school teachers and taught here and are now retired. We try to get involved in everything in town but there are only so many hours in a day. It bothers both of us when our city isn't running smoothly so I decided to give the people of Cambridge a VoiceNow. I will write a daily blog entry about Cambridge and hopefully share what I perceive to be the "hot" topics for the day from my perspective. I want you to comment and please share this blog address with your friends. My wife and I already write a daily journal so this will be it but we invite you into our world. I will make sure all the city councillors, the mayor, and city officials know about it. I hope this makes Cambridge a better place to live because I learned from teaching kids that progress happens when more questions are asked.
